From Eviction to Empowerment: Andrea’s Story of Resilience and Hope - Luke G
Andrea was a resident who stayed at the Greater Lafayette Family Shelter on two occasions with her son, who is currently 10. In the span of a couple of weeks, she had lost her brother to an overdose, her oldest daughter moved out and was legally adopted by her godmother, and she was served an eviction notice by her landlord, who was attempting to raise her rent illegally. After a legal dispute between her and her landlord, she was given 30 days to move. Following her eviction, Andrea and her son moved into the shelter and stayed for about half a year. She later moved out and went back and forth between couch surfing and staying in her car for several months. During this time, she had major surgery for Endometriosis and lost weeks off work to recover. She was recovering from surgery while couch surfing at a friend’s house that was requiring her to babysit their 5 children as a condition for being able to stay. After couch surfing and sleeping in her car for many months, she moved in with her boyfriend, who was paying the rent. However, he was dishonest about being able to pay the rent, and he was served an eviction notice. With nowhere else to stay, Andrea chose to return to the shelter in order to stay united with her son. Her second time in the shelter was very different from the first. A complete leadership overhaul had taken place, and more support was in place to help residents. Andrea enjoyed speaking with Steven, the executive director, and Jessica, the case manager, about her struggles; it was a source of motivation to be able to speak with people about her situation. While at the shelter both times, Andrea and her son received shoes the both times they stayed at shelter and jackets the first time they were at shelter. It was able to take off a major financial burden, and it helped the family save up money to find more permanent housing. Clothing was a major expense for Andrea, especially with a son who was growing out of many of his older shoes. For her son, his new shoes gave him a lot of confidence at school. He still wears the shoes he received from Subaru almost every day because of how much he likes them.

Warm Gesture - Lasting Impact - Robin S
For the past 10 years, Subaru and its retailers have shared warmth, love, and hope with those bravely facing cancer - and 2025 was no exception! On June 24th, Zeigler Subaru of Lafayette once again partnered with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to deliver cozy blankets to patients at Franciscan Health Lafayette Cancer Center, providing warmth and support as they move forward in their journeys. A HUGE thank-you to everyone who took part in this meaningful delivery. Your kindness reminds us that even the simplest gestures can make a lasting impact. We’re beyond proud to be celebrating 10 years of partnership with Subaru through the #SubaruLovesToCare program! 💙
Community Partnership in Action - Cait P
Food Finders Food Bank is grateful for our partnership with Zeigler Subaru of Lafayette. Since 2020, Zeigler has helped Food Finders provide over 565,000 meals throughout our 16-county service area. They have served as a presenting sponsor for Food Finders' annual fundraiser, the Blue Jean Ball, and have provided over 1,000 volunteer hours at the Fresh Market food pantry. Additionally, they have invited Food Finders' staff to participate in several community events, including trunk-or-treat celebrations. Community partnerships like this are essential to addressing food insecurity in our region, as they amplify our impact and create lasting change that extends far beyond what either organization could accomplish alone. This collaboration exemplifies Zeigler's 'Love Promise' values, which focus on showing love and respect to all people and being a positive force in the communities where they live and work through actions that set an example for others to follow. Ending food insecurity requires dedicated partners who understand that hunger impacts individuals across all walks of life. Through their ongoing commitment, Zeigler Subaru of Lafayette demonstrates how local businesses can play a vital role in ensuring that no one in our 16-county region goes without access to nutritious food.
Subaru Loves the Earth Tree Distribution - Jarad M
Zeigler Subaru hosted an incredible tree distribution event back in April where they generously donated 100 trees to the community as part of their commitment to making a positive impact on the environment. I was fortunate to receive a tree for my home, and the entire experience was outstanding. The event was thoughtfully organized, with each tree clearly labeled and ready for pickup, creating a smooth and welcoming process. Every staff member I interacted with was kind, helpful, and truly passionate about the cause. It was a beautiful example of community and sustainability coming together.

Feeding the Dogs - Jackie B
During the Month of October, Ziegler Subaru of Lafayette held a pet food drive and collected over two truck loads of food for the shelter dogs, and additionally brought the Subaru Loves Pets Adoption Kits. Feeding the dogs here at the shelter and keeping them on a regular diet helps tremendously and reduces GI upset by not changing their food constantly. This is also a phenomenal financial burden lifted from our budget. We are so very grateful to the men and women of Ziegler Subaru and the commitment by Subaru to our furry friends.

Zeigler Subaru of Lafayette Donates Blankets of Hope & Support to Cancer Patients - Robin S
On 6/18/24, twelve staff from Zeigler Subaru of Lafayette joined with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in delivering 80 blankets, messages of hope, and 30 patient care kits to staff at Franciscan Health Cancer Center Lafayette to share with their patients who are currently battling cancer. Maria Vought, MS BSN, NI-BC Director, Oncology Service Line, captured the intention of these blankets perfectly when she commented that “These blankets not only warm our patients physically, but they also wrap them in a blanket of community support as they progress through their journey of healing.” Radiation Therapy Manager Stacy Kamal reiterated that sentiment saying, “There's no such thing as too much support for patients on this journey, and it truly is the little things that show that support that matter the most.” A special thank you to Sean Summers of Zeigler Subaru Lafayette and Jennifer Eberly of Franciscan Health Cancer Center Lafayette who helped LLS coordinate this event and to all who helped in making this delivery possible!
Zeigler Subaru is King Of Mardi Gras for Teacher Grants - Janie N
A sold-out crowd filled The Outpost for an evening of Mardi Gras-like festivities, led by celebrity emcee Arni’s own Brad Cohen, all of which benefitted the Lafayette Breakfast Optimist Teacher Grant Program. And Subaru was right there with us as our King of Mardi Gras sponsor. For the past six years, Subaru has been the major donor for this event. When the local dealership changed hands this past summer, we were a bit concerned. But Zeigler Subaru stepped up to continue the Subaru connection; as a result, we had our best year ever. The event has been a dedicated fundraiser for the Teacher Grant Program since 2013. All of the proceeds and sponsorships go to our Teacher Grant Program, which awards funds to local classroom teachers for supplies and projects at a time when educational funding continues to be reduced and needs continue to grow. Thanks to the generous support of Subaru, we have been able to provide additional grants. Many of the grants provide long term educational benefits and thousands of local students have been impacted by the program. Last year we were able to fund more than $21,000 to 27 teachers in 20 schools in Tippecanoe County. This year we should be able to do much more. The grants are awarded in the fall and the winners share the outcome of their grant projects with the club in June. Over the years, the grants have covered class sets of instruments, 3-D printers, field trips to cultural events and museums that the students might not otherwise be able to attend, replacement equipment for science and IT classes, adaptive PE equipment, classroom adaptive aids and programs for handicapped students, special materials for art projects, and alternative and/or enrichment materials for students who need additional help to master a skill, and books---oh, so many books for reading programs. The Lafayette Breakfast Optimist Club is a small active service group of businessmen and professionals, many retired, who focus on helping youth in the community. They like to do hands-on projects and have financed and built playgrounds, baseball fields, gaga pits, climbing walls, storage buildings and more for local organizations. They partnered with SIA on the Subaru South Tipp Park, which opened in 2014. They just recently finished rehabbing the ADA-compliant Murdock Park Nature Trail, which they originally built over 25 years ago. They work with and support the local Boys and Girls Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Junior Achievement, local youth sports programs, Special Olympics, YWCA Domestic Abuse Program, YMCA, Food Finders Backpack Program, to name a few (These projects are financed through other fundraisers/donations.). Zeigler Subaru, however, has expressed an interest in becoming involved with us in these types of hands on community projects as well. But the jewel in our crown in service to our community is our Teacher Grant Program. And Zeigler Subaru has now become a big part of its success.
